Myers Riley Motorsports heads into this week’s 12 Hours of Sebring after a productive test at Sebring International Raceway a few weeks ago, where the team continued to build on the momentum of the No. 16 Ford Mustang GT3 Evo.
The test gave the team a solid baseline heading into race week and was an important step forward as Myers Riley Motorsports continues to get more comfortable with the Mustang GT3 Evo package. While the outing was successful, conditions this week are expected to be quite different, with warmer temperatures likely to play a role compared to the cooler weather the team had during testing.
That change should make for an interesting weekend at one of the toughest tracks on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship calendar. Known for its bumps, heat and nonstop demands over 12 hours, Sebring always gives teams plenty to manage.
Still, Myers Riley Motorsports arrives feeling encouraged by what was learned in testing and ready to keep building momentum with drivers Sheena Monk, Jenson Altzman and Felipe Fraga.
“I’m eager to put the chemistry and hard work from Myers Riley back on track at the 12 Hours of Sebring,” said Monk. “We have made great efforts across the entire team to continue improving our proficiency with the Mustang GT3 Evo, and it’s time for us to start building momentum.”
Altzman is looking forward to taking on Sebring with the team after what he described as a strong test.
“Sebring, my favorite race of the year!” said Altzman. “Excited to compete in my first 12-hour with Myers Riley Motorsports. After a solid couple of days of testing, the team is confident that our Mustang GT3 is in a great position for race week. It’s been a massive team effort at the sim to get us up to speed so quickly, and I’m looking forward to finishing what we started in Daytona.”
Fraga also came away from the test feeling positive about what the car showed.
“I'm genuinely thrilled to head to Sebring in this car,” said Fraga. “The test went extremely well, and it gave us a lot of confidence in what the Mustang can do. Sebring is one of those places that demands everything from you, from the bumps to the speed and the non-stop intensity, so I’m excited to see how the Mustang responds when it’s time to push for real.”
With useful test mileage under its belt and another endurance weekend ahead, Myers Riley Motorsports will look to put that preparation to work at Sebring.
Qualifying for the 12 Hours of Sebring will take place on Friday, March 20, at 11:20 a.m. ET, with coverage available in the United States on Peacock and IMSA YouTube, while international viewers can watch on IMSA YouTube.
