Position Overview:
The Parts Room Attendant handles the shipping and receiving functions of the company, including daily shipping duties, and processing activities in the parts department. This position should provide excellent customer service and become familiar with customers, parts, and processes. While performing the duties of this job, the individual is in a stationary position for approximately 50% of the time while operating machinery, and computers and completing office work. They occasionally operate motorized equipment and machines. The individual needs to occasionally move about on the shop floor to transport parts, and access tools, equipment, parts, and other necessary items to complete the work order. Most of the activities involve fine and gross manipulation of items. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals in the office and shop. They must regularly push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. The individual must be capable of transporting different parts and tools required to do the job.
Essential Job Functions:

Processes and distributes all incoming shipments to the correct departments.

Assists with unloading of company or vendor vehicles when required utilizing company equipment such as forklift.

Organizes shipping of outgoing packages for in-house and outside customers.

Processes international shipments requiring customs paperwork and LTL freight.

Picks up and delivers parts in a company vehicle.

Checks stock of inventory.

Maintains organization in the parts room.

Performs data entry of purchase orders and ensures they are linked to correct programs.

Follows all safety rules and regulations as required by federal and state laws and company policy.

Performs all other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
-
Education and/or Experience – High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) and 3 or more months of relevant experience.

Language Skills –Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent.

Computer Skills – Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Forklift Certification – Current forklift certification preferred. Ability to pass and maintain a forklift certificate as required by OSHA.

Other Qualifications – Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time; Overnight stays may be necessary. Valid driver’s license required and insurable motor vehicle record.
