Myers Riley Motorsports delivered an encouraging and highly productive Roar Before the 24 test weekend at Daytona International Speedway, using valuable track time to fine tune its No. 16 Ford Mustang GT3 Evo ahead of next week’s Rolex 24 at Daytona. Ford Performance Junior Team driver Jenson Altzman co-shares the No. 16 Myers Riley Motorsports Ford Mustang GT3 with Brazilian driver Felipe Fraga, Sheena Monk, and former Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean.

The Mooresville outfit opened the weekend with a strong fourth place result in Session 1, followed by a fifth place finish in Session 2. From there, Myers Riley Motorsports continued to build momentum, setting the overall best lap time in Sessions 3, 4, and 5 as the crew and drivers worked through key setup and performance objectives.

In Session 6, the team elected to evaluate additional changes and gather data, prioritizing learning over the running order on the leaderboard. With rain on the forecast Sunday afternoon, the No. 16 machine did not venture on track for the final outing of the weekend.

“It was a super solid few days here at the Roar,” highlighted Jenson Altzman. “It was essentially only our second time on track with the car since our IMSA November test, so it was great to work through a lot of what we’ve been testing in the simulator over the offseason. A lot of hard work went in from Ford Racing, and the entire engineering group at Myers Riley Motorsports. We’re happy everything worked the way it should, and it brought us that confidence that makes us even more excited for the rest of the season. We also showed some good pace. I think we’ve got a strong car, and we’re looking forward to putting that pace to use on longer runs and having a good 24 hour race.”“Overall, it doesn’t feel like the Roar could have gone much better,” Sheena Monk stated. “The car was in a really good place, and it seems like all the work the Myers Riley Motorsports team put in leading up to the event really paid off and set us up well. Of course, the real work starts next week, and my goal is to keep closing the gap to the other drivers. But so far, each time I’m in the car, I'm building more confidence and comfort in the Mustang.”

“We had a really good test,” Felipe Fraga emphasized. “I feel very comfortable in the car. I like driving the Ford Mustang, and I’m really enjoying working with Sheena, Jenson, and Romain. Everything has been great. I’m having fun, and I feel like we have a really strong lineup. I’m confident we’ll have a good chance to fight in the race.”

“It was a good first week,” noted Romain Grosjean. “The team has been working really well together, which doesn’t surprise me after being involved with Riley Motorsports last year. I’ve gotten to know my teammates more, and as a group it’s going really well. Everyone seems to have similar feedback and the same feeling in the car. Now we just need to keep building on what we have been able to accomplish so far, and hopefully we’ll have a very good 24 Hours of Daytona.”

The team is also proud to represent a landmark piece of Mustang racing history at Daytona, running a special livery dedicated to the original number 16 Bud Moore Trans Am car from 1969. Fans will be able to see the iconic original Trans Am car at the track starting next Thursday. While pleased with the pace and progress shown throughout the Roar, the team’s focus now shifts to the true test of endurance: the official Rolex 24 at Daytona race weekend, with practice sessions resuming at Daytona International Speedway on January 22nd.
