Myers Riley Motorsports heads west this weekend for Round 4 of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, with Sheena Monk and Felipe Fraga ready to take on the IMSA Monterey SportsCar Championship at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in the No. 16 Ford Racing Mustang GT3.
Following a solid seventh-place result on the streets of Long Beach, the team enters the Monterey weekend focused on carrying that momentum forward and continuing to make gains in both the Bob Akin Award championship and the full-season GTD standings.
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is one of the most iconic venues in North American sports car racing, known for its elevation changes, low-grip surface, technical corners, and the world-famous Corkscrew. For Myers Riley Motorsports, the 2.238-mile circuit presents another important opportunity to keep building with the Mustang GT3 Evo package and maximize points in a highly competitive GTD field.
“Laguna is always a track that I want a strong result at for personal reasons, but as a team, we are approaching the weekend with our continued long-game mindset,” said Monk. “Laguna Seca can be tricky for the Ford Racing Mustang GT3, but I believe the new Evo kit will help mitigate some prior challenges. Regardless, Filipe and I, as well as the entire Myers Riley team, are fully focused on maximizing the package we have. I think we did a solid job of that in our previous outing and I look forward to making further strides in the Akin Championship as well as the full season standings.”
The Monterey event marks the fourth stop on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship calendar and the next step in what continues to be a focused, season-long effort for the Myers Riley Motorsports program. With Monk’s consistency, Fraga’s pace, and the team’s continued execution, the No. 16 Mustang GT3 arrives prepared to contend for another strong result.
“I’m happy to be in Laguna with the team,” said Fraga. “I think we had a great improvement in Long Beach, and we need to carry that momentum forward to keep scoring important points. I can’t wait to drive the Mustang at such an iconic track.”
The IMSA Monterey SportsCar Championship takes place May 1–3 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Fans can watch the race starting at 4 PM ET on NBCSN and Peacock.
